Heritage in the vineyard

Domaine

Prior to the current success of Petrus, the estate was owned by the Arnaud family for almost two hundred years. Since 1925, Madame Loubat started acquiring pieces of the property and she became the sole owner at the end of World War II. After Madame Loubat’s passing in 1961, her family sold Moueix their remaining shares making Jean-Pierre the sole owner of the greatest estate. Today, following the passing of Jean-Pierre, the estate is managed by his son Jean-Francois, and his brother Christian oversees the vineyard, vinification, marketing, and distribution of the wines. In September 2018, Jean-François Moueix’s entourage confirmed that 20 percent of the capital had been sold to Colombian-born American billionaire Alejandro Santo Domingo.

Environmental practices

The vines are cultivated using sustainable methods. The grapes are harvested by hand. The vineyard is meticulously tended throughout the year (thinning, leaf removal) and the entire harvest is gathered in two afternoons.
