Tasting notes

Pale gold color. The first nose shows great depth. Aeration reveals the complexity of great years. Everything is there: freshness, precision, purity. The wine impresses on the palate, combining power and finesse. The finish is interminable and harmonious. As is often the case in exceptional years, the richness in sugar disappears behind the wine’s balance. A great Rieussec for tomorrow, for 10 years from now, or for much longer…

Vineyard

Vineyard size: 85 hectares
Soil composition: Sandy-clay gravel

Winemaking

Fermentation container: Lightly pressed, the must is left to settle before being transferred to new barrels for fermentation.
Maceration technique: Fermented separately in barrels.
Aging: Oak Barrels
Left with lees and stirred regularly until mid-December, then racked and blended before left to age for 12 months

Heritage in the vineyard

Domaine

Purchased by Domaines Baron de Rothschild in 1984. Château Rieussec has a unique located, just between Yquem and Fargues. In the 18th century the estate belonged to the Carmelite monks in Langon, rated a first great growth. Carmes de Rieussec is the second wine of this great estate.
