Tasting notes

With an intense black color and purple highlights, Château Pichon Baron 2022 offers an expressive, refined nose combining delicate floral aromas such as violet and rose with red and black fruit. Notes of graphite and oak then emerge. After a powerful attack, the palate is rich, velvety, and deep. The red and black fruits, spicy wood notes, and mineral character of the terroir are all present. The finish is intense, smooth, and long.

Heritage in the vineyard

Domaine

The origins of the estate date back to the late 17th century, in 1689, Pierre Desmezures de Rauzan, a prominent wine merchant and steward of the prestigious Latour and Margaux estates, purchased vineyards adjacent to the Latour estate, establishing what became known as the Enclos Rauzan. Château Pichon Baron was originally part of this larger estate, owned by Pierre de Rauzan, which also included Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. In 1850, the estate was split into the two Pichon estates we know today. In 1987, the French insurance company AXA acquired Château Pichon Baron. The estate is currently managed by Christian Seely.
