Tasting notes

Dense, deep black color with dark ruby highlights. Complex nose of Morello cherry, cherry pit, blackberry. Notes of citron and spices (saffron). Long, full-bodied palate: redcurrant, blackcurrant, morello cherry, cocoa and licorice. Supple, never-ending finish with clean, well-coated, very precise tannins. A complex, racy, balanced and harmonious wine.

Soil composition: Mixed gravel with a sandy-clay subsoil.

Winemaking

Fermentation container: Stainless steel vats with temperature control.
Maceration technique: Vatting time 20-25 days.
Aging: Oak barrels
18 months in 60% new oak barrels.

Heritage in the vineyard

Domaine

Founded in 1815 by Etienne Théodore Dumoulin, the Château was later classified as a Second Growth in the 1855 classification. In 1896, the Charmolüe family made significant investments. In 2006, the estate was purchased by Martin and Olivier Bouygues.

Environmental practices

Under the ownership of Martin and Olivier Bouygues, the estate has been modernized, with new cellars as well as beginning to implement sustainable and organic farming practices.
