Tasting notes

A mild winter with a relatively warm month of March favoring early bud burst. A dry summer playing a role to facilitate maturation. A beautiful deep ruby color with a blending of red fruits, cedar and spices. Conveying ripe, warm tannins with good length.

Vineyard

Vineyard size: 95 hectares
Soil composition: Mixed gravel with a sandy-clay subsoil.

Winemaking

Fermentation container: Hand-picked plot by plot before sorting, clusters are sorted, then de-stemmed and finally optical sorting before vatting.
Maceration technique: Stainless steel vats with temperature control – vatting time 20-25 days.
Aging: Oak barrels
18 months in 60% new oak barrels.

Heritage in the vineyard

Domaine

Founded in 1815 by Etienne Théodore Dumoulin, the Château was later classified as a Second Growth in the 1855 classification. In 1896, the Charmolüe family made significant investments. In 2006, the estate was purchased by Martin and Olivier Bouygues.
