Tasting notes

A lovely dynamic and forward selection of fruit on the nose with black cherries, blackberries, minerality and crushed stones. A layering of flavors that adds to the length on the palate.

Winemaking

Fermentation container: Hand-picked, sorted in the vineyard and table sorted in the cellars.
Maceration technique: With 6 elevator-mounted tanks to facilitate rack and return operations and connect to the underground barrel cellar.

18 months with 75% new oak barrels.

Heritage in the vineyard

Domaine

The first mentions of the Bages lands date to the 16th century, then in 1750, the Lynch family became the owners before Jean-Charles Cazes purchased the estate in 1929. Each generation after which has championed the estate, Jean-Michel Cazes added a more modern vat room, storage cellars. Jean-Charles would take over the estate in 2007, beginning by mapping out the terroir of the estate. A second renovation of the cellars was completed in 2022.

Environmental practices

During cellar renovation, the winery’s design, materials have been taken into consideration to improving its energy efficiency. With significant natural light and solar panels to supply a large portion of the energy needs. Additionally, rainwater run-off is collected to water plants.
