Heritage in the vineyard

Domaine

Thomas Barton, in 1722, left Ireland to settle in Bordeaux and found a wine merchant company. In 1826, his grandson would purchase 50 hectares in the Saint-Julien appellation that would be classified as a second growth. Remaining in the family, the Barton story continues with Lilian and her two children.

Environmental practices

Environmental policies founded on 3 pillars, additional viticultural practices that are environmentally-friendly, HVE3 sustainable agriculture and sustainable winemaking practices. With woodlands and meadows bordering the vines, no chemical weedkillers used since 2010, replaced by full tillage of the soil. Using 30% composting residues from the estate for the soil. Sexual confusion for pest control in addition to biodegradable and compostable trellising staples.
