Tasting notes

Beautiful concentrated color. A solid, dense wine on the palate, it has a beautiful structure and pronounced tannins. A long, persistent wine with notes of violet on the finish. The 2010 is an elegant wine with beautiful balance.

Soil composition: Calcareous, sandy and gravel-based soils.

Winemaking

Heritage in the vineyard

Domaine

Dating to the 13th century, but gaining notoriety during the 17th century thanks to the De Ségur family. Starting during the 18th century, the Marquis Nicolas Alexandre de Ségur focused on consolidating early successes and improving winemaking techniques. Earning the château the title of « the King’s wine » before being classified first growth in 1855. In 1868, the estate was acquired by Baron James de Rothschild.
