Tasting notes

A deep bouquet of black fruits and licorice. Full-bodied and round on the palate, already expressive, then tightening up to reveal its power and liveliness. Its youthfulness does not hide its energy, but elegance and complexity are already there!

Soil composition: Calcareous, sandy and gravel-based soils.

Winemaking

Fermentation container: Wooden vats
Maceration technique: Vatting time 15-20 days with temperature control.

Heritage in the vineyard

Domaine

Dating to the 13th century, but gaining notoriety during the 17th century thanks to the De Ségur family. Starting during the 18th century, the Marquis Nicolas Alexandre de Ségur focused on consolidating early successes and improving winemaking techniques. Earning the château the title of « the King’s wine » before being classified first growth in 1855. In 1868, the estate was acquired by Baron James de Rothschild.
