Tasting notes

Dark, crushed blackberry color with good depth. Powerful, creamy nose, with aromas of very ripe red fruit. Hints of blond tobacco and wood. Full, rich and voluminous attack, combining the fatness of Merlot and the aromatic finesse of Cabernet franc. Aromas dominated by bright fruitiness. Smooth tannins, long finish.

Soil composition: Quaternary alluvium from the Isle river with clay and gravel

Winemaking

Fermentation container: Before vinification, vats were bled by 1% for this vintage.
Maceration technique: Vatting time between 19 to 26 days, with the blend including 5% of pressed wine.

Heritage in the vineyard

Domaine

An extensive history tracing back to the 15th century classified at Premier Grand Cru Classé A. Purchased jointly in 1998 by Albert Frère and Bernard Arnault, the buildings and cellars have been renovated while maintaining the exterior landscape. The estate is also listed as a UNESCO heritage site.
