Tasting notes

The color is as expected, with marked transparency and significant brick red hues. The nose is intense and particularly fruity, with tobacco and leather also present. The palate surprises with its still-present body and a certain sweetness. Red fruit, licorice, a hint of tobacco.

Vineyard

Vineyard size: 35 hectares, including 10 for Montagne Saint-Emilion.
Soil composition: They are planted on clay-limestone soil, which itself rests on asteriated limestone.

Winemaking

Fermentation container: Fermentation is initiated using only natural yeasts.
Maceration technique: Temperature-controlled vinification and very long maceration.
Aging: Enameled vats and barrels.
Aged for 2.5 years.

In Greek, the word “Calon” means beauty. For three centuries now, the Boidron family has been gradually building up the vineyard at Château Calon.
