Tasting notes

Red fruits, with good volume and concentration. Tannins are well-integrated with excellent length that give this wine it’s beautifully structured complexity.

Vineyard size: 32 hectares
Soil composition: Garonne gravel, sandy-clay subsoil.

Winemaking

Fermentation container: First vintage with optical sorting machine and brand new de-stemmer.
Maceration technique: Maceration temperature maintained at 26°C.
Aging: Oak Barrels
12 to 15 months 30% new each year, and clay amphorae.

Heritage in the vineyard

Domaine

Established by the Poyferré family following the last Marquis de Las Cases, when the Léoville estate was split becoming three different properties. Classified as a second growth in 1855. The estate was taken over by the Cuvelier family in 1920, who modernized the estate. Currently managed by Sara Lecompte Cuvelier.

Aware of the challenges of the future, we are continuing our environmental efforts to make the most of the exceptional terroirs in which our vines flourish. For the third year running, the vineyard continues its successful transition to organic farming. Exclusive use of natural products to help the plant defend itself against climatic hazards. HVE3 accreditation since the 2017 vintage.
