Tasting notes

Garnet coloring with a pleasing brilliance, red fruits, licorice and spice that give a fragrant bouquet. Tannins have good length, smoothness, overall agreable with good character.

Soil composition: A layer of thick quaternary gravel, with a predominantly clay sub-soil.

Winemaking

Fermentation container: Tronconical stainless-stell tanks with temperature control.
Maceration technique: Vatting time 18 to 21 days with micro bubbling and co-inoculation for fermentation.

Heritage in the vineyard

Domaine

Named in part for the small boats called « calones » that would navigate the Garonne River. The estate was brought to glory in the 18th century by the Marquis de Ségur, who emparted part of his name to this emblematic estate. Now belonging to the Suravenir Insurance Group, the estate is managed by Laurent Dufau.

Environmental practices

A commitment to sustainably run viticulture with cover crops in the vineyard pathways and parcels that are left to lie fallow to further instill biodiversity. Consciously aware of their impact of the environment, the estate has been certified classified high environmental value (HVE level 3) as of 2017. Implementing environmental dimensions into its economic strategy.
