Tasting notes

Château Léoville Barton 2014 shines in its expression of fruit. The aromatic bouquet is seductive in its complexity, with notes of ripe black fruit evolving into the delicacy of dried flower scents. On the palate, the wine reveals a tender, gourmet texture, underlining the structure of smooth, silky tannins. The mid-palate retains the crispness and softness of the fruit, stretching out with freshness and suppleness to a delicious finish. A magnificent Saint-Julien with promising longevity.

Heritage in the vineyard

Domaine

Thomas Barton, in 1722, left Ireland to settle in Bordeaux and found a wine merchant company. In 1826, his grandson would purchase 50 hectares in the Saint-Julien appellation that would be classified as a second growth. Remaining in the family, the Barton story continues with Lilian and her two children.

Environmental practices

Environmental policies founded on 3 pillars, additional viticultural practices that are environmentally-friendly, HVE3 sustainable agriculture and sustainable winemaking practices. With woodlands and meadows bordering the vines, no chemical weedkillers used since 2010, replaced by full tillage of the soil. Using 30% composting residues from the estate for the soil. Sexual confusion for pest control in addition to biodegradable and compostable trellising staples.
