Château Chasse-Spleen

– Moulis en Médoc –

HISTORY

It was in 1720 that the first pages of the estate’s history were written, thanks to Mr Gressier, who invested in this gravelly hillside in the hamlet of Grand Poujeaux. The château took on its current name in 1863, a fusion of the Anglophilia fashionable at the time and the poetry of Baudelaire, giving rise to Chasse-Spleen. Later, the estate was acquired by a German merchant before being bought by the Lahary family, who owned it until 1976, when Jacques Merlaut took over ownership. Today, it is his granddaughter, Céline Villars, who runs the estate.
