HISTORY

With a long-standing tradition of producing quality wines that began when Jacques Sauvage first started producing wines at Yquem, Château d’Yquem was awarded the Premier Cru Supérieur classification in 1855. The estate was passed to the Lur-Saluces family. Thomas Jefferson visited the estate in 1784, writing about the wine’s quality. The estate was then run by Comte Alexandre de Lur-Saluces until 1996, when the LVMH Moët Hennessy brand purchased a majority share of the estate, striving to maintain tradition while remaining open to modernization.

A fresh, almondy nose, with hints of pear and more exotic nuances such as pineapple. On the palate, there’s a pleasant texture with jammy notes of lemon and orange, followed by an evolution towards fresher, more delicate floral notes. This wine stands out for its great finesse and perfect balance, offering a smooth, powerful mouthfeel, with a long, extremely rich finish.

A brilliant golden robe. Aromas of orange marmalade mixed with notes of fine honey, fresh fruit and ripe citrus. Full-bodied and racy palate, with majestic fruit. With great delicacy combined with great nobility, this cuvée forms a juice of total harmony combined with a terribly elegant, persistent profile.

A pretty golden colour. Lots of richness and elegance, fresh, intense notes, delicate woodiness. Unctuous attack, perfectly balanced, with notes of honey, white pepper, quince and a hint of nectarine.

The wine has a very woody bouquet, filled with scents of smoked almonds, candied pineapple, honey and caramel. On the palate, the wine is less flamboyant, with less glycerin and power than usual, but it’s nevertheless a rich, full-bodied Yquem with great personality and character.

Enjoy the beautiful flavors of honey, pineapple and papaya, opening to reveal spiced notes of toasted coconut and shaved ginger that give a wonderful mouthfeel. A harmony with great depth balanced by the acidity of the palate.

A very good year, harvest started much earlier than normal, with a vintage that has a lovely mix of fragrances, honeysuckle backed by tropical fruits such as dried mango, pineapple and papaya. Spiced undertones of nutmeg with orange peel. A very subtle hint of toasted oak, long finish.
