HISTORY

Jean-François de Pontet, as many high society aristocrats sought exciting opportunities in the Médoc. Once Grand Squire for Louis XV, he became the Governor of the Médoc. In 1705, purchasing land North of Pauillac. He then acquired an estate in 1757 in an area called Canet. In 1781, the estate became known as Château Pontet-Canet. The estate was purchased by Guy Tesseron in 1975.

Deep color with violet highlights. The expressive, airy nose opens with aromas of blackcurrant, peony and licorice. The palate is ample, full and creamy. Acidity and tannins meld, giving the wine its verticality. The long finish is dominated by smoky, black fruit and mint aromas.

A deep garnet-purple color with black fruits, black tea, and violets. A density of flavors with fine, silky, and elegant tannins with a hint of minerality on the finish.

A beautiful springtime with a wonderfully even flowering period, with the summer temperatures lasting well into the month of September for a particularly successful harvest. With a nose giving black cherry, cassis, sweet boysenberry pie with a touch of minerality. On the palate, structured tannins with good overall complexity. Energy and harmony.

A long period of rain during the early portion of the summer lead to a late harvest. With a deep crimson color with an elegant aromatic profile combining blackcurrant, violet and graphite. A dynamic profile with harmony and structure.

Considered an exceptional vintage the color has amber edges but the core remains a deep ruby with enjoyable elements of cedar, smoke, tobacco, and earth. Has softened tannins that still remain pleasant and expressive.
